FTP Accounts
Discover FTP accounts and about FTP in general - exactly what they are and when you will be needing them.
FTP, which denotes File Transfer Protocol, represents the most famous method for uploading files to a web hosting account. Using an FTP program that is pre-installed on your desktop computer or laptop, you can set up a connection to your hosting server and copy all the web files that you need with a few clicks. This is done via a simple-to-work-with GUI and it is as simple as dragging and dropping the files in question. The advantage of using FTP is that you can create separate FTP accounts, each one with a different level of access to your server space, so if you must grant someone access, for instance – a designer, they’ll be able to access only a particular folder and won’t be able to access the rest of your content or any other information, such as personal details. Three things are necessary in order to be able to connect via FTP – a hostname, which is usually an IP address or a domain, a user name and a password.
FTP Accounts in Hosting
Our hosting packages will permit you to set up numerous FTP accounts with just a few mouse clicks through the Hepsia Control Panel and to define what files and folders each one can access. There is no upper limit on the maximum number of accounts that you can set up, so you’ll be able to have as many as you want at any particular time. If you do not want to use a given FTP account any longer or if a web designer has fulfilled their job and you do not want them to connect to your website content anymore, you can simply remove the account in question. The Control Panel’s FTP section will allow you to see all currently active accounts shown in alphabetical order, along with various options, which you can access with one click. You’ll be able to update the access path and the password, to download an auto-configuration file, etcetera. We also have detailed help articles, which can help you manage your FTP accounts in case you encounter any problems.
